Cypress Mill unveiled Monday
Perry News Herald Article, October 13-14, 2006
Pallets of reclaimed brick
stand stacked in a near-century old warehouse, awaiting the construction phase
of a new 250 acre traditional neighborhood development which will be known as Cypress
Mill.
Beginning Monday, October 16,
details of the development will be shared during a design presentation workshop
and charrette at the Perry Woman’s Club, unveiling a
conceptual master plan and vision sketches of the neighborhood development along
with exhibit boards spotlighting project highlights.
Cypress Mill will be located
at the former site of the historic Burton-Swartz Cypress Company, most recently
home to Consolidated Forest Products.
The 250 acre site which sits to the west end of Main Street behind
Doctors’ Memorial Hospital, will be developed by Cypress Mill Development, LLC,
a group of longtime Perry land owners, residents and business owners.
A major focus has been on reclaiming
and incorporating as many original historical materials as possible into the
new project design, including bricks, logs and concrete from existing
foundations. Existing trees will also
be included in reclamation efforts. The developers
look forward to sharing their vision of a traditional neighborhood development
that will include a mix of residential, retail, commercial, office, civic and
public open spaces within a town square setting.
