Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Dedication Ceremony on Thursday, April 10, 2003 for the new Doctors' Memorial Hospital.
An estimated 1,500 people braved chilly temperatures to attend Doctors' Memorial Hospital's Open House and Dedication Ceremony on Thursday. Lieutenant Governor Toni Jennings, State Representative Will Kendrick Governor Jeb Bush's Deputy Chief of Staff (and former DMH CEO) Alan Levine were among the many dignitaries who turned out for the event. CEO Jim McKnight thankded the DMH employees for for all of their planning, preparation, and hard work on not only the ceremony, but for "keeping the hospital running, with no decrease in the level of care, while many of us had our focus on the actual ceremony." Local and out-of-town guests all praised the hospital's organization of the event, from the tours of the facility and decorating, to the refreshments provided by DMH Dietary. "I don't think it could have been done any better-other than the weather. All of the things that we had control over were absolutely perfect. Someone even asked if we had the Disney people come in and coordinate the event, because of how well it went, " McKnight said. "Everyone was so impressed with the new hospital, and we must not forget that our staff was really involved in the layout, design, and equipping of this wonderful facility" McKnight added.
