Nursing Services
Doctors’ Memorial Hospital is a not for profit, acute care community hospital that serves Taylor and surrounding counties. The Nursing Departments provide professional, prompt, caring, compassionate and safe inpatient nursing care. . Nursing values human life and maintains the patient's dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and rights at all times. Care is provided by a highly trained and competent staff, which includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants/Nurse Techs. Mandatory certification in life support is required for all clinical staff, which includes BCLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS.

Intensive Care (ICU)



The ICU waiting room is immediately outside the ICU Department
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at DMH is located on the south wing of the first floor. Unit resources are directed toward care of the adult patient with cardiovascular, thoracic, trauma, surgical, pulmonary, diabetic and medical critical care needs. Our ICU provides a high standard of care 24 hours per day, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and nursing skill. Our department is a 6-bed facility, staffed with nurses who have special training to provide compassionate care using their skills and advanced equipment. The patient’s needs are our top priority.
Medical Surgical Care


Our Med-Surg unit is located on the second floor and provides general nursing care and patient education concerning disease process. Families are included in the care and education and are provided emotional support. Patient’s needs are also Med-Surg’s top priority.
Medical conditions commonly treated at DMH include disorders involving the respiratory, cardiovascular, renal-urinary, neurologic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, hematologic, and/or musculoskeletal system. Emphasis is placed on safe and effective pain management as well as respect for end of life issues and palliative care.
Emergency Department Care

DMH Emergency Department is located on the south side of the main floor and is a 15-bed facility that accommodates over 16,000 patients each year, with easy access for ambulance and air-ambulance arrival. Patients will receive immediate triage. DMH ER has two isolation rooms, two trauma rooms, patient rooms with cardiac monitors, an orthopedic room and an ENT room.
Pediatric Care


Pediatric care is provided to children from infancy though adolescence (age 18) that present with an acute illness or injury. Parents are encouraged to participate in the ongoing care of their child. Emphasis is placed on the safety and security of its pediatric population at all times.
Surgical Services


The Surgical Services Department (OR) provides peri-operative nursing care to patients of all ages on a scheduled basis Monday through Friday and on an emergency basis utilizing on call teams. The Surgical Services Department includes four operating suites, a post anesthesia care unit and two Endoscopy procedure areas.

Surgical procedures performed are general, endoscopy and laparoscopic surgeries. GYN, urological, cataract & YAG, surgeries and also PAD testing & breast biopsy are performed.
The Out-patient Surgical Unit (OPSU) has a staff of dedicated, highly trained nurses and other individuals who prepare the patient and their families pre-operatively for their hospital experience, as well as post-operatively for patients being discharged and prepare them for their care at home. This unit also provides care for patients requiring IV medications and IV blood transfusions, dressing changes and pre-anesthesia for radiological procedures.
