                             Hospital Praised for ER Care
                                        August 5, 2009

Dear Editor:

Last Thursday evening while working on a home project with the grandson, my husband's were filled with sawdust from an electric saw.

I thought that I could flush with sterile water and remove the wood particles, but it did not work.  He was in extreme pain and I realized that we needed professional medical help.  The office of his doctor was closed so we went straight to the Doctors' Memorial Hospital emergency room.

To our surprise, our doctor was our own Dr. Joda Lynn.  How proud are we.  From the time we rang the bell to the triage nurse, to the time we walked out of the hospital, we were treated with professional respect and concern.

I am so grateful that I was able to drive five minutes and be seen in a timely manner instead of driving to another city with a husband in terrible pain to wait for hours to even see a nurse.

Wake up people.  We need this hospital and it needs us.  Lets try to be more supportive and pay our bills.

Patient 'glad' he went to DMH
                                          May 20, 2009

Dear Editor:

I recently had to have double hernia surgery, both sides.  I was well informed by my doctor at Premier Medical that this was a serious surgery and not to be taken lightly.

I was given the option of having my surgery performed in Doctors' Memorial Hospital (DMH) or Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH).  I got opinions from those people around me as to where they would go.  Some of them even suggested Gainesville.

Being a Type A analytical person with the typical invincible Boomer attitude, I made my decision according to what would be the most convenient for me and my wife.  I chose DMH and Dr. Miles Nelson.  I am glad I did.

No one could ever convince me that there is a more professional hospital staff anywhere else in this world.  I think DMH has been blessed with the best anesthesiologist it could get.  The food was good, nurses the greatest, nursing aides friendly and respectful.  This was one of the most vulnerable times of my life.  They treated me like family, not a task.  I'm glad I chose out of convenience and when it was over so were my wife and friends.  My wife wanted the best for me and I got it from Dr. Nelson and DMH.

Thank you Dr. Nelson, DMH doctors, nurses and staff.

'No community should be without a hospital'
                                         March 11, 2009

Dear Editor:

No community should be without a good reliable source of medical care.  Taylor County and surrounding counties certainly have this in Doctors' Memorial Hospital.

We appreciate being able to go to the friendly atmosphere of our local hospital for tests and medical care instead of having to travel to Tallahassee or Gainesville.

A lot of elderly and low-income citizens would simply not get the health care they need if our hospital closed.  Our over-stressed economy is hard on everyone and every area of our lives, but closing our local hospital is definitely not the answer we need.  Let's keep the doors open at DMH!

DMH 'ready to care for needs of community'
                                       March 11, 2009

Dear Editor:

I have worked in outpatient surgery for almost six years.  In that time, I have observed doctors willing to stay with their patients through the night, and give up their plans for the weekend to check on these patients.

I've also seen nurses who do everything to make sure their patient is comfortable.  Whether it is a warm blanket or simply holding their hand.  They are sensitive to the needs of their patients.

For all of us at DMH, we believe in treating our patients as we would treat our own family.

Many of our patients are elderly.  For them, it is difficult to go out of town for health care.  Also, in times of emergency, minutes do matter.

DMH is here and ready to care for the needs of our community.

                           DMH doctors, staff thanked
                                  November 19, 2008

Dear Editor:

Doctors' Memorial Hospital (DMH) is not a resort, but a wonderful place for good medical care.  During my stay from Nov. 4-8, Radiology, lab, emergency room (excepting the emergency room doctor), housekeeping, nursing, dietary, operating room, and admissions did an outstanding job working toward my wellness.

We are very fortunate to have our hospital, and professional medical personnel working hard to ensure proper community medical treatment.  Thank you DMH, and especially Doctors Nelson and Mutnal.

                              'Kudos' to hospital staff
                                   October 22, 2008

Dear Editor:

"Kudos" to our local hospital and ER.

To those who have had some unpleasant comments to say about our hospital and the care they provide, I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone of my experience.

On Sept. 15, I had to go to the ER with shortness-of-breath.  I was later admitted to the hospital under the wonderful care of Dr. Khodr.

I would like to personally thank Dr. Khodr and the wonderful nurses that took care of me during my time of need.  I could not have asked for better care.

As far as I am concerned, our hospital needs our support and we should not lose faith in it and the talented people who work there to provide their patients with the best of what they have to offer.
